Where is Tide Harbor?

While the community of Tide Harbor lives in my imagination, it is based on a real place. I visualize it as one of the small communities that are near the town of Parrsboro on the north coast of the Minas Basin which is part of the Bay of Fundy. You can learn more about Parrsboro here.

Tide Harbor lies somewhere between Economy and Parrsboro on a small sheltered bay and is home to about eight-hundred people, most of whom are either fishermen, small business people, or serving in the tourism industry. There are some blueberry and vegetable farms as well as lumbering in the area.

Parrsboro with a population of 1500 is where the regional schools and major businesses for the area are located. The regional center is the city of Truro.

The eastern end of the north shore of the Minas Basin, where Tide Harbor is, has the highest tides in the world, ranging up to sixteen feet from low to high tide.
